'High-Q' returns to TV
IRONTON -- Taping continues on a once-popular game show style quiz event that pits teams of high school students against teams from other schools to see who has the top "High-Q."
After a long absence, "High-Q" will once again be aired locally for 31 weeks starting in December. The show, hosted by local television and radio personality Ernie G. Anderson, is being taped at the television studio at Ohio University Southern in Ironton. It is being produced by OUS electronic media students.
This season, 32 high school teams from around the Tri-State are scheduled to participate. On Saturday, teams from Rock Hill and Clay High School were among those competing. Games were also taped on Saturday, Nov. 7, featuring teams from Ironton, Ironton St. Joe, Cabell Midland, Lincoln County, W.Va., Pikeville, Spring Valley and Ritchie County W.Va.
The top team locally will be be eligible for the National Academic Association Tournament next spring in either New Orleans or Washington, D.C. The finals will be in Chicago.
High Q will begin airing in December on WSAZ My Z and will run for 31 weeks.
