2 arrested on stolen vehicle charges
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Two people were arrested on a number of charges stemming from an alleged stolen vehicle being located in West Portsmouth, according to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini.
The sheriff's office received a call from the Ohio Highway Patrol on Friday stating the patrol had received information that a vehicle stolen in Adams County was in the 2000 block of Carey's Run Pond Creek Road in West Portsmouth. A search of the house led to two arrests, according to a news release.
Authorities noted that the vehicle identification number had been tampered with, according to the release.
Joseph W. Jenkins, 35, and Tashia M. Taylor, 30, both of West Portsmouth, were arrested. Jenkins was charged with tampering with a VIN, tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property and driving under suspension.
Taylor was charged with receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence and removing a vehicle identification number.
