Two people arrested on unrelated drug charges
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. -- Two people were arrested Thursday night and early Friday in unrelated drug cases in Boyd County, according to news releases from sheriff's deputies.
James D. Daniels Jr., 50, of the 4700 block of Boyd Street, Ashland, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Friday on a charge of trafficking in controlled substances in the first degree, according to a news release.
Boyd County Sheriff Department Drug Task Force members made a controlled buy of 30-milligram oxycodone tablets on Boyd Street on Thursday night, according to the release. After executing a search warrant, deputies recovered narcotics, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the release.
In the other case, deputies arrested Michael J. "Mick" Mayo, 56, of the 600 block of Westview Drive at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday on a charge of trafficking in controlled substances in the first degree.
An informant working for the sheriff's office bought 10 oxycodone tablets along Westview Drive, according to a release.
Both men were transported to the Boyd County Detention Center in Catlettsburg.
