Man arrested for heroin, trafficking
IRONTON -- A Huntington man is facing multiple felony drug charges following a traffic stop Thursday in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Joseph O. Smith, 40, of Huntington, was charged with trafficking and possession of heroin, both second-degree felonies. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
Troopers from the Ironton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban on U.S. 52 near Burlington, Ohio, at approximately 3:30 p.m. for a traffic violation. After observing criminal indicators, the release said, a search of Smith's vehicle revealed 12 grams of heroin with a street value of approximately $2,000.
