Suspect sought in Scioto County bank robbery
WHEELERSBURG, Ohio -- The Charter One Bank at 8806 Ohio River Road, Wheelersburg was robbed about noon Friday, according to a news release from the office of Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini.
The sheriff's office received a 911 call about noon from Charter One Security advising a "hold up" alarm had been activated. An employee confirmed the bank had just been robbed, according to the release.
The suspect was described as a white male with dark hair, a goatee, medium build and height, wearing blue jeans, a green-and-tan camouflage jacket, an off-white safari hat and dark sunglasses, according to the release.
He entered the bank, approached a teller and talked about cashing a check before displaying a paper note demanding money and telling the teller not to talk. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled on foot in an easterly direction.
The suspect never displayed a firearm, according to the release.
