Rock removal to affect traffic at Russell

Apr. 08, 2013 @ 11:14 PM

RUSSELL, Ky. -- Work to remove a large rock from a hillside adjacent to U.S. 23 at Russell will restrict traffic and cause intermittent road closures this week, according to a release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Starting Tuesday, contractors will restrict southbound traffic on U.S. 23 to one lane between the two- and three-mile markers just north of Kentucky 750 to remove a large rock, according to the release.

The potential for rock falls will require all four lanes of the highway to be closed for brief periods of time Tuesday afternoon, according to the release.

Weather permitting, the work should be finished by Wednesday, according to the release.
