Two charged with weapons offenses
WHEELERSBURG, Ohio -- A woman on probation was arrested over the weekend on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon and is being held without bond, according to a news release from the office of Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini.
Britney Runyon, 33, of Minford, was transported to the Scioto County Jail on the felony charge and on a probation violation, according to the release.
Brian S. Dawson, 46, of Minford, was charged with one count of having a weapon while under disability. His bond was set at $10,000, according to the release.
The pair were arrested Saturday when deputies responded to a call at the Comfort Inn on Ohio River Road about a suspicious smell coming from one of the rooms. There was a bench warrant outstanding against Runyon. When the woman was searched, a marijuana pipe was found, according to the release.
Portsmouth Municipal Court probation officers were called and searched a vehicle. A .40 caliber weapon was found in the woman's purse and another loaded handgun was found in a center console of the vehicle.
The case will be presented to a Scioto County grand jury, according to Donini.
