Ashland PD swears in 2 new officers

ASHLAND -- Two new Ashland police officers were sworn in Thursday by Mayor Chuck Charles, according to Major Mark McDowell, field operations commander of the Ashland Police Department.

Wesley Horn of Inez, Ky., and Rachel White of Morehead, Ky., started work Thursday.

Horn is a certified police officer who formerly worked at the Martin County Sheriff's Department, according to McDowell. Horn will begin a 12-week field training program Saturday.

White will be heading to Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky., to begin an 18-week basic training program at the university's Department of Criminal Justice Training center.
