Teens wanted in Ind. murder arrested in Ohio
IRONTON -- Two teens wanted on charges of murder and robbery in Bedford, Ind., were arrested Saturday -- 263 miles away in Ironton.
Ironton Police Chief Dan Johnson said the U.S. Marshal's office contacted the Lawrence County, Ohio, Sheriff's Department Saturday because they had cause to believe the two might be headed that way. Bedford is in Lawrence County, Ind.
Johnson said the dispatch included a vehicle description, and one of his officers had reported seeing that vehicle earlier Saturday.
He said a traffic stop led to a brief foot pursuit, where the two suspects were found hiding in a van.
Arrested were 19-year-old Taylor M. Flynn, who is lodged in the Lawrence County, Ohio, Jail, and an unidentified 16-year-old male, who was taken to a juvenile facility.
WISH-TV out of Indiana reported the two were suspects in a deadly home invasion Thursday night in Bedford.
Authorities with the Lawrence County, Ind., Sheriff's Department reported deputies responded to a call and found 43-year-old Rodney Allender dead in his home. Police said he had suffered blunt force trauma, and money and firearms had been taken from the residence.
A third suspect, Austin M. Curtis, 18, was arrested Friday in Bedford on charges of murder and robbery and is being held in the Lawrence County, Ind., Jail without bond.
Bedford is a community of about 14,000 located 70 miles south of Indianapolis.
