Farmers Market open for business
IRONTON -- The Ironton Farmers Market had its official grand opening on Saturday.
The celebration included inflatables for children; performances from area dance studios include Yvonne DeKay and Cyndi; clothesline art sale presented by the Ironton Artists Association; and the following Community Action programs:
Family Medical Centers provided ice cream cones
Women and Infant Children (WIC) provided games and coloring books
Early Childhood Academy (Head Start) offered face painting and flower planting for children
One-Stop provided popcorn
Fair Housing gave out temporary tattoos, bubbles and other novelties
Housing gave out snow cones
Transportation/Senior Services gave out Popsicles
The market also entered a float in the Ironton Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27. The float, which was built by farmers who are members of the market, won the "Civic Award" from the parade committee.
The Farmers Market is now open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It is located on 2nd Street, between Vernon Street and Park Avenue.
