Libraries to offer computer basics
IRONTON -- Learning the basics of computer usage is not only helpful in the quickly changing world of technology, but it could also lead to discounts on service and equipment for Lawrence County residents.
The Briggs Lawrence County Public Library is hosting free, introductory computer courses at four of its branches. The series of two, three-hour courses is being offered by the library in partnership with Connect Ohio and the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development.
Participants may take basic computer skills on the first day, and then introduction to the Internet on the second. Topics range from the basics of using computer equipment including the mouse and keyboard to setting up an email account.
By completing the two courses and completing an online survey, participants are eligible for discounts on broadband service and computer equipment. Information is available at the end of the courses.
Any interested adult is invited to participate. Seating for each session is limited. Registration must be made by calling COAD at 1-800-807-9781.
The Ironton branch already finished the computer basics workshop on Wednesday, and is hosting the Internet workshop at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, March 7.
