Scioto cases yield 2 arrests
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Two people have been arrested by Scioto County sheriff's deputies on unrelated charges of rape and burglary, according to the office of Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini.
The sheriff's office was contacted earlier this summer by Southern Ohio Medical Center personnel about a 12-year-old girl who has been sexually assaulted, according to a news release.
A report was filed and turned over to a detective. As part of an ongoing investigation, detectives were able to get a search warrant for the DNA of a suspect. The material was sent to the bureau for testing which led to a case being presented to a Scioto County grand jury. An indictment was returned Monday against Shannon L. Horsley, 45, of Taylor Dutiel Road in Wheelersburg.
Horsley was arrested at his home Tuesday without incident on a charge of rape and was transported to the Scioto County Jail. He is being held without bond pending an appearance in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Det. Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
In an unrelated case, Allen Sudbrook, 19, of Minford, Ohio, was arrested at 2 p.m. Monday in a burglary case, according to a news release. The sheriff's office received a call earlier this month about a burglary in the Minford area.
Sudbrook is being held on $25,000 bond at the jail.
Some of the stolen items have been recovered.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Det. Denver Triggs at 740-355-8245.
