Community Hospice seeks volunteers
IRONTON — Community Hospice is looking for volunteers for a variety of duties, including providing short in-home caregiver breaks, emotional support and visitation, nursing home visits, companionship and reading.
Three new volunteer orientation courses for those interested will be at the Community Hospice office at 2029 South 3rd Street in Ironton. The three-day session will be July 28, 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Volunteers determine when and how often they are available to assist — a few hours a week or just occasionally. All volunteers must complete the required training to be certified.
Community Hospice currently has 200 active volunteers in its nine county service area — Lawrence and Scioto counties in Ohio and Boyd, Greenup, Carter, Lawrence, Elliot, Martin and Johnson counties in Kentucky.
For more information or to reserve a space in the orientation, contact LuAnn Vance, director of volunteers, at 740-532-8841, 606-329-1890 or 800-926-6184.
