QUESTION: What is the most important responsibility of the county treasurer's office?

Safeguard taxpayers money. When I took office in 2004, the accounting system was obsolete. New systems providing appropriate checks and balances were established, bank accounts were reconciled daily, and installation of security cameras. Additionally, those funds must be properly posted to the taxpayers account. All personnel now receive ongoing training.

The Treasurer's office is responsible for collecting property taxes and investing taxpayer money in the most secure and fiscally responsible manner.
