Ironton attorney named Lawrence prosecutor

Nov. 01, 2012 @ 11:40 PM

IRONTON -- Mike Gleichauf, an Ironton lawyer, was named Thursday as an assistant Lawrence County prosecuting attorney, according to Brigham Anderson.

Anderson, who will take over as county prosecutor in two months, said he's known Gleichauf "my whole life. He's a good trial lawyer. He'll do a good job seeking justice for the people of Lawrence County. He'll work hard, and that's what it takes."

Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr. chose not to seek another term as prosecutor. He has served as county prosecutor for 20 years. Anderson is unopposed in his bid to replace Collier.

"He'll actually be taking my position," Anderson said.

Gleichauf will start out covering Lawrence County Municipal Court on Fridays through the end of the year and handle some felony cases, Anderson said.

Gleichauf, like Anderson, received his law degree from Ohio Northern University. He also is a graduate of Ironton High School and Ohio University. He has been in private practice for the past six years.

The job is part time, and he plans to establish a private practice starting in the next few months. He most recently worked for the Ironton law firm of McCown and Fisher.
