Library offers free computer, Internet courses
IRONTON -- Lawrence County residents who want to learn more about using computers can do so for free -- and might even qualify for computer equipment and Internet service discounts to boot -- thanks to a program offered through the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library.
The free, introductory computer courses are being offered at four branches of the library. The series of two, three-hour courses is offered in partnership with Connect Ohio and the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development.
Participants may take basic computer skills on the first day, and then introduction to the Internet on the second. Topics range from the basics of using computer equipment including the mouse and keyboard to setting up an email account.
By completing the two three-hour courses and completing an online survey, participants are also eligible for discounts on broadband service and computer equipment. Information is available at the end of the courses.
Any interested adult is invited to participate. Seating for each session is limited. Registration must be made by calling COAD at 1-800-807-9781.
