Man charged with child endangerment

IRONTON - The following information was compiled from Lawrence County Sheriff's Office reports:

ENDANGERING CHILDREN: A sheriff's deputy arrested a 48-year-old South Point area man on a misdemeanor charge of endangering children. He is charged with hitting a seven-year-old girl in the face, giving her a black eye.

Dr. Jarrett named outstanding educator for regional campuses

IRONTON - Dr. Charles Jarrett's 30 years as a sociology professor show he's getting better as time goes by.

Jarrett has been named the outstanding professor at the Ohio University Southern campus in Ironton for the past two years, and this year was named the outstanding professor at Ohio University's five regional campuses, according to Shelly Betz, marketing and public information officer for the Southern campus.
