Rio students win School of Business awards

RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Evans School of Business at the University of Rio Grande honored several outstanding students during an awards ceremony recently.

The first award during the luncheon ceremony was presented to Tessa Haggerty, who won the Wall Street Journal Award. Haggerty also won the Business Field Test Award.

The Outstanding Accounting Student Award was presented to Rita Stapleton. Stapleton also won the Outstanding Entrepreneurship Student Award, which was presented by Bob High, director of the Center for Small Business Entrepreneurship at Rio Grande. High explained that Stapleton has worked as a financial manager for her family business, done well in the classroom and has ideas for her own business.

The Outstanding Business Management Student Award was presented to Stephanie Scites.

The Outstanding Information Technology Student Award was presented to Christina Coglietti.

The Outstanding Marketing Student Award was given to Michelle Thomas, who also served as the president of the Rio Grande chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA).

The W. Lowell A. "Buzz" Call Mark of Excellence Award was presented to Katie Peters.

The two students who won the Outstanding Associate's Degree Student Awards were Eva Aldrich and Marc Stump.

The award for the Top Score on a Business Policy Simulation Course for the fall semester went to Michelle Thomas and Chelsey Wood, while the award for the Top Score on a Business Policy Simulation Course for the spring semester went to Tessa Haggerty and Scott Saunders.
