Fairland choral concert tonight

ROME TOWNSHIP -- The Fairland High School Choral Dept, under the direction of Deborah Bradley, will present the end-of-year concert today.

The show will start at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

The program will consist of sacred and contemporary selections by The Women's Choir, The Men's Choir and Varsity Vocals Select Choir. At the conclusion, the 33 seniors in the groups will be featured on a farewell song, to be followed by the school's Alma Mater, sung by all the choirs, plus former choir members in the audience. Accompanist for the group is Rebecca Sturm and choreographer is Melissa McGuffin.

The public is invited to attend.

Church rummage sale

PROCTORVILLE -- There will be a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Community Chapel Church on Rt. 775.

The event will take place in the church's fellowship hall, rain or shine. A wide variety of items will be for sale. The church is located one mile from the bypass.

BB's Car Club Cruz In

BB's Car Clubs will have its first Cruz In of the 2008 season from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in the Kmart parking lot on US 52 in South Point.

Early registration begins at 2 p.m. and is $5. BB's Car Club was picked as one of the Top 10 Super Cruz Ins in the Midwest by Crusin' Times Magazine for the 2007 season. The Cruz In is open to all vehicles and motorcycles.

Door prizes will be given every 10 minutes. Toys will be given to all children. There will be a 50-50 drawing and special prizes given to spectators and car owners.

The Cruz In will be in the theme of Cancer Awareness. Music will be provided from Magic Carpet Productions with Mister J and Company as the DJ's. Mister J will play all of your favorite 50's and early 60's tunes along with the all time favorite cruising songs of the past. BB's Car Club is the fastest growing car club in Southern Ohio with over 140 members strong. Safety Adventures Day rescheduled for May 10

Safety Adventures Day will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.

The event is designed to help people learn about ways they can create a safe environment in their travels, at home, at work and how they live their everyday lives. The event is free and open to the public. There will be door prizes, food, health screenings and demonstrations of various safety issues throughout the day.

Presenters include: the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, SEOEMS, Rome Volunteer Fire Department, Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste District, South Hills Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency, Lawrence County Health Department, Lawrence County Farm Bureau, Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District, Symmes Creek Restoration Committee, Cabell Huntington Hospital, and Collins Career Center. Information available will include health screenings, fire safety, seatbelt safety, environmental safety, emergency services, firearms safety, bicycle safety, ATV safety and more.

Street smart class at Community Center

The Chesapeake Community Center will have a special Kids Street Smart Class from 11 a.m. to noon May 17.

The class, taught by karate instructor Tim Farren, will focus on safety tips for the summer. The class is free, but advanced signup is needed. Call 867-4532 and ask for Ruth Damron.
