PORTSMOUTH -- The Shawnee State University Board of Trustees will meet at 1:15 p.m. Friday, July 11 in the Selby Board Room located in the Clark Memorial Library on the SSU campus.
The committees of the board will meet in the University Center at SSU as follows:
- Finance and Facilities : 9 a.m. in the Founder's Room.
- Academic and Student Affairs : 10:15 a.m. in the Howard/Ketter Room.
OU Southern sponsors bus trip to Cleveland
IRONTON -- Ohio University Southern will sponsor an "Education On Location" fine arts study trip to Akron and Cleveland, Ohio, Friday through Sunday Aug. 8-10. Hosts will be OUS faculty members Steve Call and Pat McCoy.
Total cost is $275 per person for double occupancy, with single, triple, and quadruple occupancy rates available upon request.
The first stop on the trip Friday will be in Akron for a tour of Stan Hywet Hall, palatial residence and gardens of F.W. Seiberling, founder of the Good Year Tire and Rubber company, which has been featured on the History Channel program "America's Castles." Other venues include a Friday night theatrical performance of "Mamma Mia!" in Cleveland's prestigious theater district, Saturday tours of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Great Lakes Science Center, and a Sunday tour of the world famous Cleveland Museum of Art.
The trip cost includes round-trip motor coach transportation, two nights lodging, a two-day pass to ride Cleveland's above-ground transportation system, admission to most venues, breakfast buffet at the Hard Rock Cafe, and two additional breakfasts. The trip is open to students and non-students including children. Optional college credits will be available in the second summer session in music history, travel and tourism, and graduate teacher education.

Band Boosters to conduct rummage sale, flea market
CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake Band Boosters will conduct a Community Rummage Sale and Flea Market, Saturday, July 5, in the parking area between Chesapeake Middle and High schools.
Local businesses and individuals are welcome to participate. The fee is $15 for one parking space and $25 for two spaces. Spaces must be reserved and paid for in advance. Tables are available for those who need them. About 200 spaces are available. No food vendors allowed.
Any unsold items are the responsibility of the seller and are to be removed from the parking area by the person who reserved the space.

Portsmouth River Days vendor applications
PORTSMOUTH -- The Portsmouth River Days Committee is now accepting vendor applications for craft booths for the festival, which will be Aug. 28-31.
The registration fee is $50 for hand-made crafts and $100 for those vendors conducting retail sales. No flea market or yard sale-type items will be sold during the festival.
Crafters will set up on Court and 4th streets. Hours of operation will be 4:30 p.m. to close Aug. 28-29, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 30, and from noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 31.
