The following road report is from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9:

DISTRICTWIDE

A districtwide striping project is under way, and crews are applying pavement markings on various routes throughout the district as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers as needed when crews are at work.

LAWRENCE COUNTY

Following a resurfacing project on Ohio 243, crews will be completing minor finishing work during the week of July 7, between the route's junction with County Road 17 (Rankins Creek Road) and Ohio 7. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers as needed, and all work is anticipated to be completed by the middle of July.

A bridge repair and resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 52, between Ohio 650 at Hanging Rock and the eastern corporation limit of Coal Grove. The route is reduced to one, 11.5-foot lane in both directions, and all traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction throughout most construction. The scheduled completion date is Aug. 31, 2009.

SCIOTO COUNTY

A bridge replacement project is under way on Ohio 522. The route will be closed near the 1.0-mile marker, just north of U.S. 52 at Wheelersburg, and traffic will be detoured locally by way of County Road 503 (Ohio River Road).

A culvert replacement project has begun in Shawnee State Forest, where contractors will be replacing approximately 50 culverts at various locations on Forest Roads 3 and 4, as well as on Coffee Hollow and Dry Creek roads in Brush Creek Forest. Traffic will be maintained with the aid of flaggers throughout most construction; during any periods of closure, motorists will be detoured locally. The project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 30.
