Before I came to the United States, I got the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe and, being a lover of good food, I tried many unusual dishes in many strange places. The Moravian Wedding Platter, eaten in the open air in the main square in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, was a meat and dumpling lover's dream. Souvalaki and lamb kleftiko on the Greek island of Kefalonia were heavenly, as were many of the dishes in France, Belgium and Spain. Each country's cuisine is subtly different of course -- Spain, Portugal and Italy use far more tomatoes in cooking than the French and other northern European countries do, but they are all delicious.
