WVMEA Show Choir Festival expands to two days at Poca High

POCA — Thanks to an increase in the number of participating schools, the West Virginia Music Educators Association Show Choir Festival has expanded to two days.

The festival is planned for Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, at Poca High School.

The middle schools will compete at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22; on Saturday, March 23, 18 high school show choirs from across the state will vie for state honors.

Local schools attending are Buffalo High, Hurricane, Nitro, Poca, Cabell Midland, George Washington, Riverside, Sissonville, and Winfield. Middle schools attending are Bridgeport, Dunbar, South Harrison and Wasington Irving.

More than 1,000 singers, dancers and musicians will participate in this event.

All day come-and-go tickets are available at the door for $13. Middle School only tickets are $8.

9 a.m.: Nitro High School (Girls)

9:30 a.m.: Buffalo High School (Small Mixed)

10 a.m.: North Marion High School (Small Mixed)

11 a.m.: Liberty High School (Small Mixed)

11:30 a.m.: Robert C. Byrd High School (Small Mixed)

12 p.m.: Grafton High School (Small Mixed)

1:15 p.m.: Nitro High School (Small Mixed)
