HURRICANE -- You can help make a difference at a local school, just with a few clicks of your mouse. But hurry -- you have to do it by Tuesday, July 22.
Jennifer Weddington's media class at Hurricane High is familiar with clicking the mouse, and all other types of media technology. Her students use technology every day to communicate with the rest of the school. Their morning announcements, aired on video in every classroom, are the hit of the day with students and teachers alike.
Weddington's class has found another use for its creativity: they are actively seeking additional funding through the Big Lots Lots2Give giveaway contest that is currently running on the Internet.
The class has achieved finalist status by producing a 90-second video and writing an essay that indicated why their school needs financial support. Judges rated the entries on creativity, inspiration, delivery and need.
Hurricane High is one of 100 finalists nationwide for the grand prize of $10,000, first prize of $5,000, or second prize of $2,500.
Winners will be chosen by popular vote on the video of choice on the contest Web site. You can vote up to three times per day through July 22.
