WINFIELD -- The Mary Ingles Trail Association needs 14 volunteer actors and at least nine tour guides to play character roles for the 20th annual presentation of "The Legacy of Mary Ingles" on a Putnam County farm from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 27 and 28.
The production, to be staged in two shifts so no actors are required to perform for the entire six-hour span each day, calls for three women aged 15 to 30, two women and two men aged at least 20. Nine tour guides, to be cast as 18th Century land agents, will interact with the characters using prepared question-and-answer scripts. No acting experience is necessary.
Actors' roles are young Mary Ingles; Daniel Boone's wife Rebecca; Beatrice van Bibber; a Native American medicine woman; a settler; a German trader, and a young woman who is a salt maker. Period costumes will be provided.
Auditions will be conducted from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27, and Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2-3 at the Bob Weiford Settlement , in Winfield, W.Va., where the production also will be performed.
