Man charged with auto theft, fleeing

WINFIELD -- The following information is from Putnam County Sheriff's Department reports:

FELONY ARREST: Putnam County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man accused of stealing a car over the weekend.

Jeffrey A. Johnson was arrested following a pursuit in which he is accused of stealing a car in Kanawha County. Johnson is charged with receiving a stolen vehicle or transferring, fleeing in a vehicle and on foot.

AUTO THEFT: A car was reported stolen in Hometown. There's no suspect, but deputies are investigating.

SHOPLIFTING: Deputies responded to two reports of shoplifting. The first was in the 100 block of Great Teays Boulevard in Scott Depot. The other was in the 4000 block of Teays Valley Road in Hurricane. There are no suspects in either case and police are still investigating.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: Deputies responded to a breaking and entering at a home in the 30 block of Evergreen Circle in Poca. Police are still investigating.

LARCENY: A larceny was reported at Highway Contract Number (HC) 63 in Red House. Suspects were listed at the time of the report and the incident is still under investigation by Sheriff's deputies.
