David's Bridal surprises teacher with a check for $25,000 toward wedding
NITRO -- A Rock Branch Elementary School teacher got a big surprise -- and an even bigger check -- on Friday when she was named winner of the "Share Your Love, Win Your Wedding" sweepstakes sponsored by David's Bridal.
Jessica Musick, a fifth-grade teacher at Rock Branch, was surprised with a $25,000 check to use toward her upcoming wedding celebration. Musick was chosen from participants nationwide who registered at www.Davidsbridal.com or entered their proposal story on David's Bridal's Facebook page.
Musick, who is also an alumna of Rock Branch Elementary, is described by her coworkers as an "anchor" to her community and a role model to her classroom of 18 students, according to a news release from David's Bridal.
On Friday, Rock Branch Principal Jill Cox invited students and teachers to an assembly that she told them was to present the Young Writers Award and Leader in Me initiative. But inside the auditorium, they were met with multiple dressing mannequins donning wedding gowns, and Belinda Browning and Kendra Copen from David's Bridal with a giant check for Musick.
David's Bridal also donated dresses, jewelry and accessories for Rock Branch students to use in playtime or dramatic performances.
