Sports in brief: Outdoor volleyball league now forming
SCOTT DEPOT -- The Teays Valley Church of God is now signing up players for a summer co-ed adult sand court volleyball league.
Players aged 15 and older of all skill levels are invited to join for family friendly competition and exercise.
Play begins on Thursday, April 16 and continues for eight weeks, followed by a two-week tournament. Best of three game series will be played each Thursday at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. or 8 p.m., depending on the number of teams signing up. League will be refereed.
The sand volleyball court is located at the church's new park on Teays Valley Road. Facilities include a concession stand, childrens play area and rest rooms. The site is alcohol and tobacco free.
The cost is $25 per player for the season. Corporate-sponsored teams may sign up together, or individual players can be randomly assigned to eight-person teams. Rules call for a six-player maximum on court with no more than three men at any given time.
To sign up, individuals or teams may call Thom Pratt at 304-757-6453 or email: thom@horizonwv.org.
