Drowning remains under investigation

WINFIELD -- the following information comes from Putnam County Sheriff's Department incident reports:

DROWNING: Deputies responded to a drowning on Bear Branch/18 Mile Creek Road. The victim was listed at the time of the report, but the victim's name is not being released yet, pending notification of family or next of kin. The drowning is still under investigation.

ASSAULT: An assault was reported in the 6100 block of W.Va. 34 in Winfield. Officers have a suspect, but the incident is still under investigation.

SHOPLIFTING: Shoplifting was reported in the 100 block of Great Teays Boulevard in Scott Depot. A citation was issued at the scene.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: A suspicious vehicle was reported on Teays Lane in Scott Depot. The suspect was gone when police arrived.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: There was destruction of property in the 600 block of Railroad Street in Buffalo. Deputies have a suspect and a warrant is pending.

DISTURBANCE: Deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 300 block of Maury Lane Apartments in Hurricane. The suspect had left by the time law enforcement arrived.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT: A person in the 100 block of Hedrick Road in Scott Depot reported harassing phone calls. Police are investigating and have a suspect.
