JACK L. OSBORNE, 72, of Culloden, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Funeral services were Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, W.Va., by Pastor Doug Bragg and Rev. Zonnie Byrnside. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, W.Va. He was born November 2, 1937, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late John T. and Ada Carter Osborne. He was a retired salesman with Nitro Auto Parts and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Evergreen Hills Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his wife, Linda Pauley Osborne; two sons, Todd Osborne of Huntington and Kevin Osborne and his wife Pamela of Ona, W.Va.; one sister, Judith Hicks of Huntington; one brother, Gary Osborne and his wife Juanita of Clarksburg, W.Va.; and one very special grandson who was his little buddy, Nicholas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evergreen Hills Baptist Church.
LORETTA GAIL GIPSON SOWARDS, 76, of Hurricane, widow of Dennis Sowards, died Sunday in CAMC Teays Valley. Graveside service was Tuesday, Kingery Cemetery, Hurricane. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.
LARRY SWEET of Hurricane, formerly of Barboursville, W.Va., went to be with our Lord on November 6, 2009, at the age of 54 years old, after a long bout with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Rebecca Weadman Jordan; and a brother, Glen Sweet. He leaves behind a wife of 29 years, Rhonda Sweet; a wonderful son, Thomas D. Sweet; and a beloved daughter, Lillian D. Sweet; also a father, Daniel W. Jordan; brothers, Jerry L. Sweet and Gene Raymond (Vickie) Sweet of Huntington, W.Va.; a brother, Clarence Thomas (Charlene Cornilious) Sweet of Green Bay, Wis.; and brother, Daniel R. (Dee) Jordan of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a mother-in-law, Doris J. Dempsey; two sisters-in-law, Regina Dempsey and Yvonne Bentley; brother-in-law, Paul Bentley; nephew, Joshua Davis, all of Hurricane, W.Va.; a brother-in-law, Herbert T. Dempsey; sister-in-law, Christina Dempsey; and niece, Allison Dempsey, all of Ona, W.Va.; and a multitude of family and friends who meant the world to him. Funeral service was Monday at Lighthouse Baptist Church of Milton, W.Va., with Pastor Carl Merritt and Rev. Richard Black officiating. Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, W.Va. handled the arrangements.
TIM YOUNG, 60, of Hurricane, husband of Shirley Young, died Friday at UPMC Montefoire Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was retired from INCO/Alloy Special Metals. Funeral service was Monday at Allen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
