Church hosts personal finance DVD course
HURRICANE -- Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 2848 Putnam Ave. across from Main Street, will offer a 13-week DVD course taught by Dave Ramsey, a national radio and TV talk-show host and best-selling author.
This biblically based series teaches practical personal finance applications, such as saving, budgeting, investing, insurance and more. The course is designed to help you get out of debt, build wealth, eliminate stress and improve relationships.
Two separate courses will be offered. A 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday night course will begin on Sept. 10, and a 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday night course will begin on Sept. 14. Classes are interchangeable if you miss a session.
A course fee covers the cost of the FPU Membership Kit, which includes a workbook, 13 CDs, Ramsey's best-selling book, budget forms and more.

Free marriage class offered in Scott Depot
SCOTT DEPOT -- Thom Pratt, a local professional with 15 years of mental health experience, will teach a course for married couples, "Building Teamwork in Your Marriage" at the Teays Valley Church of God beginning Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9:15 a.m.
"With so many stresses in life competing for a person's attention, making a marriage relationship priority by investing time and focus on it is often difficult," Pratt said. "We want to provide this free course as a convenient way for couples to improve their relationships."
There is no charge for the course. Teays Valley Church of God is located at 4430 Teays Valley Road, just east of the Scott Depot exit. For more information call 304-757-9222.
Methodist women plan bazaar for October
WINFIELD -- The Winfield United Methodist Women are sponsoring a Fall Bazaar at Winfield United Methodist Church (behind the U.S. 35 McDonald's) on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.
Stop by and enjoy a wide selection of homemade soups and hot dogs for sale, then browse the vendor section for a variety of crafts available for purchase. Proceeds from the Bazaar help the WUMW sponsor several community projects throughout the year.

Winfield UMC hosts open house Sept. 7
WINFIELD -- Winfield United Methodist Church, located behind the U.S. 35 McDonald's, will host an Open House from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7.
All community members are invited to enjoy free hot dogs, drinks and games and Jupiter Jump for the kids.
Applications available for Arts & Crafts sale
HURRICANE -- Applications are available for a booth space at the Annual Fall Arts and Crafts Sale, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave., Hurricane.
Spaces are $20, plus an additional $3 for electricity.
