Putnam County Parks and Recreation is Business of the Month

Feb. 08, 2013 @ 12:12 PM

The Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission has been proudly serving the residents of Putnam County for over 40 years. The park board and staff are committed to providing quality recreational experiences for your family and excellent venues for your most special occasions. We continuously strive to provide a superior quality of life for our residents.

Putnam Parks manages and maintains Valley Park, the county’s most popular and heavily used park, Putnam County Park, pool and fairgrounds in Eleanor, Hometown Park and the Esther and Norman Walter Memorial Nature Park in Red House. Putnam Parks also operates Waves of Fun Water Park, the state’s only regional water park attraction. This facility is a major economic driver, bringing thousands of visitors and dollars to Putnam County annually.

In addition to quality park facilities, we offer multiple park sponsored events each year. Our annual Civil War Days, Super Saturday, Princess Tea Party and Yuletide in the Park are just a few events families may enjoy each year. Classes are also offered at a modest price. Karate, zumba and ballet are offered regularly. Special classes such as fly tying and photography are offered at various times.

If you would like to know more about special events, activities and classes, venue rental or reserve a picnic shelter or ball field for your group, please visit your parks online at www.putnamcountyparks.net or call 304-562-0518. Likewise, if you have a special talent and you would like to teach a class, we will be happy to work with you.

Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission is a proud member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.

Business selected for “Business of the Month” are drawn from the names of Chamber members attending Business After Hours.
