Putnam Obituaries
MARY ELIZABETH SHORT, 93, of Hurricane, W.Va., was ushered into the Throne Room of the Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 12, 2009 in Teays Valley Nursing Home. "She fought the good fight." Funeral services will be were Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock, W.Va. She was born February 28, 1916, in Elkins, W.Va., a daughter of the late John Wesley and Maggie Carr. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Oscar Joe Short; a son, Billy Short; a granddaughter, Sandra L. Martin; and two grandsons, James "Jim" Edgar Dailey, and Philip Charles Dailey. She was a homemaker and a 64-year member of the First Huntington Christian Baptist Church of God. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and James Edward Dailey of Huntington; two grandsons, Stephen Dailey and his wife Teresa of Milton, W.Va., and Shawn Short of Lavalette, W.Va.; one granddaughter and her husband, Misty and Jason Queen also of Lavalette; nine great-grandchildren; seven great- great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and two very, very special friends, Wanda Wells and Jackie Ferguson.
