The Appalachian Children's Chorus to host Rhapsody in Red

Feb. 01, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

CHARLESTON -- The Appalachian Children's Chorus will host its Rhapsody in Red Gala beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston.

This event features the Sweet Lipzz Big Band, Landau Murphy Jr.'s backup band, for a night of music and dancing.

There will be a full meal and wine, entertainment and a live and silent auction. Appalachian Children's Chorus Concert Choir will sing a few songs for the guests. The band will play all evening.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 304-343-1111. Tickets are $150 for an individual or $1,500 for a corporate table of 10. Other sponsorships are also available. All donations are tax-deductible, with the exception of the cost of food. All of the proceeds from the event go toward providing financial aid scholarships to children who could not otherwise participate in ACC.

Many corporate executives, business leaders and public leaders will be on hand. Current top sponsors include Huntington Banks; CAMC and the Central West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

ACC is the "Official Children's Chorus" and "Ambassadors of Music" for West Virginia. There are more than 200 children that comprise the seven ACC choirs -- including a Putnam County choir. The organization's mission is to develop artistic excellence, a quality music education and extraordinary opportunities for all of West Virginia's youth.
