Egg hunts, events fill calendar for Easter weekend in Putnam County
HURRICANE -- This weekend is ripe with fun Easter-themed events for children in Putnam County. Here are some of the activities that have been announced:
The Great Egg Hunt, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Hurricane Wave Pool Park. Sponsored by Scott Depot Christ Fellowship. A whopping 23,000 eggs will be hidden. There will also be pictures with the Easter Bunny, Dora, Swiper and Spongebob, along with food, prizes, inflatables and more. There will also be an egg hunt for children with special needs. Easter Eggstravaganza, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Putnam Care and Rehabilitation, located off of Teays Valley exit, south on W.Va. 34, directly behind CAMC Teays Valley Hospital on Seville Road. The event is co-sponsored by Broadmore Senior Living and Putnam Care and Rehabilitation. Children in fifth grade and younger are invited to attend the free event. An egg hunt will begin at noon. There will also be a Jupiter Jump, toddler inflatables, duck ponds, cotton candy, bean bag toss, Easter Plenko, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny. The egg hunt will be divided into age groups; hunters who find "lucky eggs" can win bicycles and other prizes. Annual Eggstravagant Easter Egg Hunt, noon on Saturday, April 7, at Hurricane Church of Christ, 600 Midland Trail Hurricane, W.Va. There will be food, games, Easter egg coloring, egg bag toss, face painting, Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Easter Eggstravaganza, 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at Teays Valley Acres. For all children ages preschool through the fifth grade. The event is free and will feature egg hunts with more than 10,000 candy-filled eggs, pony rides, inflatables and more. One of the Egg Hunts will be designed to meet the needs of children with special needs and will be held at 4 p.m. All other hunts will take place by age beginning with preschool children at 2:30 p.m. Teays Valley Acres is located one mile east of Teays Valley Church of God at 4606 Teays Valley Road, just east of Rocky Step.
