MICHAEL S. FLETCHER, 78, of Dunbar, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, W.Va. Michael was born on February 26, 1934, in Charleston, W.Va., son of the late J. Carroll and Elizabeth C. Fletcher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother J. Carroll Fletcher, a sister Elizabeth 'Betsy' Fletcher Rea, and a son-in-law Gary Gilmore. Michael is survived by his sister Sally (Jim) Holliday of Hurricane, W.Va.; his three daughters, Robin (Randy) Forzano of Wheeling, W.Va., Karen Gilmore of St. Albans, W.Va., and Tracee Fletcher of Powhattan, Va.; his nine grandchildren, Justin Forzano, Jenna Forzano, Julianne Forzano, Jessica (Zane) Looney, Sara (Kyle) Hawkins, Maggie Gilmore and Emily Gilmore, Rachael Martin and Elliot Waugh; his close friend and companion, Martha Webb; several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. During his early years, Michael served in the military. After his father's retirement, he became the president of Fletcher Enamel Company in Dunbar, W.Va. Following his work in the family business, he branched out and developed numerous business ventures in Dunbar and surrounding areas. He had a creative mind and enjoyed the challenge of starting new businesses. Through his simple acts of kindness, he helped many and formed lasting friendships. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at St. Timothy's-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church, Hurricane, W.Va., with the Rev. Cheryl Winter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cameroon Football Development Program (CFDP), 6014 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206, a non-profit organization established by his eldest grandson, Justin Forzano, or to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Dr., Charleston, WV 25311.
