LANA JUNE ALFORD, 66, of Hurricane died Thursday. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday, Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane; burial at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Visitation one hour before service Sunday at the funeral home.
FANNIE MAXINE SEARLS BIRD, 75, of Hurricane, wife of Ronald Bird, died Sunday in Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. Graveside service 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mount Olive Cemetery. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, is assisting the family.
CHARLES W. HALSTEAD, 73, of Hurricane, husband of Pauline Halstead, died Thursday in the VA Medical Center. He retired from Chemical Leaman Tank Line. Graveside service 11 a.m. Monday, Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane.
DORA M. KUHN, 81, long-time resident of St. Albans, W.Va., died Thursday, August 14, 2008, in Washington, Pa. She was born April 3, 1927, in Milton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Earnest T. and Essie Brown Ball. Mrs. Kuhn worked as a clerk for the City of St. Albans for 15 years. On August 11, 1950, she married Ralph Marshall Kuhn, who died January 18, 1977. Also preceding her in death is a sister, Patricia Nibert. Surviving are her son, Stephen D. Kuhn and his wife Janice of Washington, Pa.; her daughter, Martha Ann Jarrett of Pars, Pa.; her brother, Murrel Ball and his wife Ruth of Milton; her sisters, Winifrede Browning and Edna Ball, both of Milton, Betty Keaton of St. Albans; eight grandchildren, Emily Parnell, Anna Petrovich, Abigail Kuhn, Ellen Kuhn, Andrew Jarrett, Matthew Jarrett, Samuel Jarrett and Benjamin Jarrett; one great-granddaughter, Naomi Parnell. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, with Rev. Craig Crossman officiating.
