Putnam County Library gets face-lift with new retaining wall
TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. -- The Putnam County Library property has gotten a face-lift with the installation of a new retaining wall and drainage system.
Built in the mid-1970s, the original timbers used to secure hillside along the library's back parking lot had become in major disrepair, said county administrator Brian Donat.
The funds to replace the dilapidated wall were provided through a state community participation grant in the amount of $8,000. Not only does the wall serve a functional purpose, but also has resulted in a nicer view for those entering or exiting the backside of the building.
Donat said it took some time to find funds available to complete this project.
"But they have a nice drainage system in place now. It ought to last a long time."
