Spooktacular, family fun planned at Clay Center
CHARLESTON -- The Clay Center will have its annual Halloween bash, Spooktacular, Saturday, Oct. 20
The family-friendly event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors are welcome to come in costume.
The schedule of events includes:
Trick-or-treat bag decorating, noon -- 4 p.m. -- Create an original catch-all for your candy.
Haunted Lab, noon -- 3 p.m. -- Conduct eerie experiments.
Trick-or-Treat Trail, noon -- 4 p.m. -- Find ghoulish goodies to take home.
Pumpkin decorating, noon -- 4 p.m. -- Make your own festive creation. ($1 per pumpkin)
Costume parade, 2 p.m. -- Show off your trick-or-treat gear.
Wicked Weather science demo, 1, 2 and 3 p.m. -- Explore exciting weather phenomena.
For even more spooky surprises, find out about the astronomical origins of Halloween in the "Harvest Skies" planetarium show.
While at the Center, have fun with physics and learn about Newton's Laws of Motion in "Roll Drop Bounce," the latest traveling exhibit in the Mylan Explore-atory. Then, get up close and personal with some of the world's most majestic animals or go on a famous adventure that changed the course of American history in giant screen films "Bears" and "Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West."
All Spooktacular activities, unless otherwise noted, are included in museum gallery admission, which is free for Clay Center members or just $6 for children and $7.50 for adults. Films and planetarium shows are additional.
