Golf scramble set to raise money for basketball

Jun. 14, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HURRICANE -- A golf scramble that organizers hope will become an annual tradition will help raise money for Hurricane High School basketball.

The inaugural fundraising scramble is planned for July 29 at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. Proceeds will benefit the boys and girls basketball teams at HHS. Funds raised from this first scramble are specifically earmarked for new uniforms.

Hurricane just experienced a banner year in basketball, with the boys team going to the state tournament for the first time in school history.

Event organizers Austin Lowe and Lance Sutherland are now signing up sponsors for the scramble. Sponsors will have their company name or and logo displayed on a welcome banner at the tournament. Hole sponsors will have their customized signage placed at the sponsored hole during the tournament.

The following levels of sponsorship are available:

1. Executive Tournament Sponsor, $1,000: Includes Golfing Foursome; 1 Free Mulligan/Player; Formal Recognition at all Home Games; Tournament Special Recognition; Hole Sponsorship

2. Gold Corporate Sponsor, $600: Includes Golfing Foursome; Tournament Special Recognition; Hole Sponsorship

3. Black Corporate Sponsorship, $200: Includes Tournament Special Recognition and Hole Sponsorship

4. Golfing Foursome (Golf Only), $400

5. Hole Sponsorship, $100.

"Sponsorship in this event will not only provide assistance to the Hurricane Basketball programs, but will promote your company to a group of people very loyal to its sponsors, the many area professionals participating in the event and all the parents and fans associated with this fine, outstanding basketball program," the organizers said in a news release. "It will also foster a 'TEAM' environment that supports and positively impacts the boys and girls of Hurricane, as well as the community."
