Library hosts Halloween Read Aloud

October 30, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

TEAYS VALLEY -- Little ghouls and goblins got quite a treat on Monday at the main branch of the Putnam County Library.

Members of Hurricane High School's Read Aloud Club shared spooky -- but kid-friendly -- stories with the youngsters, who came dressed in their Halloween best. The little ones were also able to "trick-or-treat" in the library's stacks, collecting candy from volunteers.

The annual event has grown through the past few years, attracting more participants. It's a chance for children to enjoy a safe Halloween experience, and for members of the Read Aloud Club to practice their skills and share their love for literature with young children.

Ben and Aaron Cobb arrive at the Putnam County Main Library on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, to listen to scary stories at the annual Halloween Read Aloud.
