23 arrests made in September

WINFIELD -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Department during the month of September responded to 1,342 calls for assistance, and made 23 felony arrest and 76 misdemeanor arrests, according to a news release from Sheriff Steve Deweese.

New Hope Animal Rescue hosts Pet Halloween Costume Contest

HURRICANE -- New Hope Animal Rescue will host its 18th Annual Pet Halloween Costume Contest on Sunday, Oct. 26. The contest will be held at the large shelter at Valley Park in Hurricane (near the wave pool); registration begins at 1 p.m. and the judging begins at 1:30 p.m. Alan Hoover from WMXE 100.9 FM will host the event.
