Fruth Pharmacy is a family owned business established in 1952 by Jack Fruth. In the course of its 60 year history, Fruth Pharmacy has grown to 27 stores. Fruth first came to Putnam County in 1987, when it opened its store in Hurricane. Shortly after, stores were opened in Eleanor, Winfield, and Scott Depot. Fruth Pharmacy employs nearly 700 people in both Ohio and West Virginia.

On Tuesday night, April 16, I received word from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Charlotte, N.C., saying, "George Beverly Shea, 104, of Montreat, North Carolina, soloist for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) died this evening following a brief illness."

REV. KELSON RAY BAYS, 81, of Culloden went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2013, after a long illness at his home surrounded by his family. Kelson was a retired carpenter, pastored in several churches in West Virginia and Florida and made several mission trips to Mexico with other ministers to build orphanages. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hurricane. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve; brothers Darrel, John and Clarence; and sisters, Peggy and Wanda. He is survived by his wife, Erma Riddle Bays; and daughter, Vanessa Chatterton of Culloden; and sons, Tim Bays of Delano California and Greg Bays of Hurricane; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Junior (Christine) Bays of Hamlin and Jay (Mary) Bays of Rock Hill S.C.; and sisters, Ana Mae Adkins of Huntington and Betty Keyser of Dallas, Texas. Funeral service will was Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Hurricane First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. James Lutz and Mr. James McGehee officiating. Burial in Sycamore Cemetery.
