HURRICANE -- The air might have been icy and forbidding on the outside of the Barnyard Barbecue in Hurricane on Friday, Jan. 24, but inside, the atmosphere was electric with the sounds of great bluegrass music as nearly 100 people came together for a benefit show for their friend and fellow musician, John "Buckwheat" Green, who had heart bypass surgery in early November and hadn't yet been able to return to work.
The weekend will start out with mostly cloudy skies along with some late day snow showers Saturday. The high temperature will be 32 degrees.

MARIAN DELORES BLAKE 81 of Hurricane went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2014, after a sudden illness, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by parents Rosie and Jewel Bailey, husband Rev. Frank Blake, and son James "Jim" Blake. She was founding member of Evergreen Hills Baptist Church. She was retired from Stone and Thomas. She is survived by daughter Lynn (Mike) Adkins of Culloden; five grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Mitchell, Kim (Tim) Romeo, Stephanie (Bob) Beckett, Jennifer (Rick) Fleshman, Michael (Erica) Adkins; nine great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter; a brother Keith Bailey of Charleston; extended family Eva and Opie Edwards of Milton and Herman Author Jr., and a host of cousins nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Hesson. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home.
