DAVID NORWOOD ALLEN, 86, who believed in our one and only God, passed away at home, recently. Dave entered his worldly life April 11, 1928, in a farm house just south of Hurricane to the late Pearl Warren and Geneva Holcomb Allen. He served in the U.S. Army between WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 301 for over 30 years before his retirement. Those who knew Dave were aware of his love of hunting and fishing and his outdoor adventures in Pocahontas County and on the Greenbrier River. Dave was preceded in death by his best friend and wife Anna Jimison Allen, Brothers William, Harold, Adrian and Charles and Sisters Virginia Tincher, Evelyn Spry and Eleanor Escue. Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Oxley and husband Rod of Hurricane and a son Rodney Allen and wife Diana of Huntington. Grandchildren Dale and Devin Oxley of Hurricane and Austin Allen of Huntington. Brother Pearl, sisters Lorraine Melton and Charlotte Costanti, also half sisters Peggy, Betty, Naomi, Shirley, Carole, Mona and Joyce and half brother Jimmy. Funeral service was Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Losh officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
