'Inside Out' has a smart plot, entertaining for all ages

I don't want to really compare this, but I can't help but think of "Inside Out" as this generation's "Wizard of Oz."

It is a surreal world that describes a young girl who is sent into turmoil, and must persevere. There are unbelievably weird little characters that fascinate the little ones, and dialogue that will entertain the adults.

I love medical terminology. Take the term 'topical analgesics.' It's just a fancy term for describing pain relievers that you rub onto the skin.

'Remember the Alamo,' and remember Phil Collins

In the mid-1950s, the Disney Company resurrected the legend of an American folk hero. It was 1955, Fess Parker played the lead in the motion picture "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier" and this was followed the next year by a TV miniseries. The story was a sensation at the time and in no time it made its way across the Atlantic to Britain where it was equally successful.

Thousands come together to remember Battle of Waterloo in Belgium

This week, thousands of people from countries all over the world have gathered in a shallow valley between two low ridges that are bisected by the Brussels road in southern Belgium. Whilst many of them are wearing modern dress, a large proportion are adorned with military uniforms from 200 years ago, because these enthusiasts have come together to commemorate a battle.

'Journey off the Map' hosted by Forrest Burdette Memorial

HURRICANE - "Journey off the Map," the 2015 VBS event, runs from 6-8 p.m. daily, Sunday, June 28, through Thursday, July 2, at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave., Hurricane. This year there will be groups for toddlers (age 1) through sixth-grade students. Children will learn to "follow Our Guide," Jesus, and learn how Daniel followed God and trusted God's path. There will be music, Bible lessons, games, crafts and snacks. "Join us for an awesome week to learn about God, discovering faith where the way is 'Unknown to us, but known to God," the church said in a news release. Sheriff's Department responds to more than 1,200 calls in May

WINFIELD - The Putnam County Sheriff's Department during the month of May responded to 1,237 calls for assistance, and made 28 felony arrests and 97 misdemeanor arrests, according to a news release from Sheriff Steve Deweese.
