Gasoline station: Two incidents resulted in the taking of $10,985.60 from the Little General BP gasoline station/convenience store. It happened in March 2008 along the 3400 block of U.S. 60 in Barboursville. Police believe a store manager stole nightly deposits, said Cabell County Sheriff's Detective Mike Rappold. One of the two incidents involved a person copying an old deposit slip and attaching it to the overnight records. The scheme made it appear money had been deposited. An investigation is ongoing.

Restaurants: Teresa Malanonski, 50, of Ona was charged in connection missing money from Tudor's Biscuit World in the 5900 block of U.S. 60 in Barboursville. Investigators believe an assistant manager made deposits for less than the store's sales in June 2008, Rappold said. A total of $2,152 was missing. The case is pending court action.

School board: Former Wayne County Schools treasurer John Thompson is charged with taking $4,600 from the county's public schools between December 2006 and May 2007, according to State Police Cpl. J.M. Parde. His case is pending trial.

PTO: Dawn R. Compton pleaded guilty to taking $10,338 from West Teays Elementary School's Parent-Teacher Organization in Hurricane. She served as the group's president at the time. Money went missing between August 2006 and July 2007. Compton awaits sentencing, according to Larry Frye, assistant prosecutor in Putnam County.

Public office: Investigators believe an office manager stole $95,286 in checks and cash from the Salt Rock Public Service District between June 2006 and December 2007, Rappold said. Investigators believe the manager had been pocketing the district's cash deposits. Rappold said $27,807.19 went missing, and $67.478.95 in checks are missing. The manager was indefinitely suspended. The case is expected to go before a grand jury.

Credit Union: Susan Kelly, 58, of Barboursville pleaded guilty to taking $81,672 from the Star USA Federal Credit Union in Huntington. It occurred between November 1998 and March 2006. She would add money to customer withdrawals, said U.S. Attorney Charles T. Miller. She provided the customer with their request, and she pocketed the additional amount. She was sentenced to pay restitution and spend three months in federal prison.

Conservation District: A federal indictment charges Marcia L. Masters, 43, of Kenova with taking $704,606 from the Guyan Conservation District between May 2004 and September 2007. She worked as the district's administrative officer. She is scheduled to attend an Aug. 18, guilty plea hearing. Details about her case have not been released.

Doctor Office: Diann Richmond , 55, of Fort Gay pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion linked to the taking of $1.17 million from the former Huntington Emergency Physicians Group. The money disappeared between 2000 and 2004. She worked for an outside accounting firm and was assigned to the physicians group. Miller said she created a fictitious company and used it to open a business checking account. She was sentenced to pay restitution to company officials, an insurance company and the Internal Revenue Service. She will spend two years and six months in federal prison.

Bank: Lesa R. Fuller, 31, of Huntington admitted to taking $137,100 between October 2003 and May 2006. The money was taken from City National Bank in Huntington. FBI Special Agent Joseph Ciccarelli and Miller said she created fictitious cashier checks to withdraw money from customer accounts. She replaced the funds by taking a larger amount of money from another customer's account. She pocketed the difference. Fuller was sentenced to pay restitution.
