The Point Pleasant River Museum has an exhibit on display through Feb. 29 in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the Silver Bridge collapse.

The museum has new, never displayed photographs, a piece of debris from one of the vehicles that was on the bridge, pieces of the bridge, a model of the bridge along with a diagram. The diagram shows where the cars were located, and who the drivers of the vehicles and their passengers were.

Two movies featuring interviews of survivors will be shown.

On Dec. 15, the HAM Radio Operators will set up their radios in the River Museum Library and send out notices from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to contact any survivors who were on the bridge and hear their stories. The public is welcome to stop in the library and watch the operators work.

Anyone involved with the recovery, anyone who was on the bridge, relatives of the victims and all those with a story to tell are invited to stop by the museum.

Available at the museum are a 2008 commemorative calendar with a Silver Bridge picture for each month and T-shirts with a picture of the bridge, as well as Silver Bridge post cards, note cards and a CD with the Silver Bridge song by gospel singer and Point Pleasant native Steve Chapman.

The Point Pleasant River Museum is located at 28 Main Street, Point Pleasant, across from Tu-Endie-Wei State Park.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.
