  • Enrollment in the Classes of 2009 at Cabell County's two high schools has dropped from 998 to 795 students in two years. About 42 percent of the reduction was due to dropouts.
  • A study by the Civic Enterprises found that a student gives up on school every 29 seconds in the United States, resulting in more than one million American high school dropouts each year.
  • Cabell County's Classes of 2007 lost 227 students, or 22.3 percent, from their freshman to senior year. Although complete dropout data was unavailable for all four years, 91 of those students did formally drop out as juniors and seniors, according to data provided by Cabell County Schools.
