Ky. man faces multiple charges
LOUISA, Ky. — Police say a man trying to elude a state trooper caused a fatal crash in eastern Kentucky and is now facing charges including murder.
A statement from Kentucky State Police says 34-year-old Joshua A. Fitzpatrick of Paintsville was charged Friday after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a motorcycle being operated by 40-year-old Johnny K. Maynard Jr. of Catlettsburg. Maynard was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Trooper Devan Cleaver began chasing Fitzpatrick’s vehicle in Louisa after taking a report of a car driving recklessly. The driver fled before losing control and crashing. Fitzpatrick is also charged with fleeing and evading police, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving on a suspended license.
It was unclear whether Fitzpatrick has an attorney.
