Derecho disaster assistance registration deadline is Nov. 19
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Less than one week remains for West Virginia residents to register for disaster assistance to help with losses caused by the late-June/early-July derecho. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is urging everyone in the 20 affected counties to apply by Monday, Nov. 19.
There are two ways to begin the application process. Residents may call FEMA's toll-free registration number at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing impairment from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Residents may also register online at www.disasterassistance.gov.
Residents of the following disaster-designated counties may be eligible for assistance: Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Roane, Tyler, Webster, and Wood.
