Groups host annual Memorial Tree Lighting event
LESAGE -- Members of the Oak Hill UBI Church and the Lesage Post Office would like to extend an invitation to residents who wish to honor their loved ones during the Fifth Annual Lesage Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at the church, located on Oak Hill Road in Lesage, just north of Hillbilly Hotdogs along W.Va. 2.
During the ceremony the names of each person being remembered and the names of the ones who made the donations will be read. Christmas music will be provided by choirs joining together from the area churches, and programs will be provided with all the names being remembered along with the donors names.
This year the C-4 Barber Shop Quartet will be singing at the church during the ceremony.
Participants do not have to be from the immediate area to submit loved ones' names.
After the names are announced, the ceremony will conclude at the Memorial Christmas Tree, which is located at the Lesage Post Office, for a Candle Light Ceremony.
Lighting the tree will be Terry Knight, a Guillain-Barre syndrome survivor.
Refreshments will be served at the church following the ceremony.
To purchase a light on the Memorial Christmas Tree mail the loved one's name along with your name and address with a $3 donation per name to: Lesage Memorial Tree Ceremony P.O. Box 326 Lesage, WV 25537, by Friday, Nov. 23.
Donations will be distributed to local churches to provide food baskets and gifts for Christmas.
